Can Erectile Dysfunction Be Dangerous to You?

Erectile Dysfunction (impotency) can be a wake up call to many other symptoms of problems in the body. If you are suffering from Erectile Dysfunction it is time to take heed and see your physician. Men that suffer from impotency can be at risk of diabetes or coronary heart condition.

When a man goes and visit his physician and man's up and tells him that he is suffering from Erectile Dysfunction the physician will usually be concerned about possible heart disease. The physician will ask numerous questions about him and his family to see if there are any issues in his parents or siblings of heart disease or diabetes. Studies have shown that men who suffer from Erectile Dysfunction are more likely to have some form of cardiovascular heart disease.

One reason for male impotency is the lack of blood flow to the penis. This is caused by hardening of the arteries or hypertension (high blood pressure). With improper blood flow to the penis the quality of the erection is diminished so Erectile Dysfunction.

Another reason for male impotency is caused by the male hormone called testosterone. If your body is not producing enough testosterone and you are having low levels because of it your sex drive will be diminished and you will suffer from not having very strong erections.

Every man has a gland in the brain called the pituitary gland (endocrine gland). This gland is what decides how much testosterone the body needs to produce. Testosterone is am endocrine chemical which is made by the body. The testicles of the man regulate the amount of testosterone that the pituitary gland puts out by telling the brain through the nervous system. This is a very complex system, but a simple blood test is all it takes to find out if your body is low of testosterone.

As mentioned before, male impotency can also be a sign of diabetes. Diabetics have complication in blood flow and nerve damage which also affects the penis. So while you are talking to your physician about your erectile dysfunction and possibly checking your testosterone levels have your physician also run a test of your blood sugar.

Erectile dysfunction can also be caused by medications that you are taking for hypertension or depression. Depression alone can also be a cause of male impotency, along with several medications that is prescribed for depression. Another factor that can not be ruled out for this condition is chronic sleep disorder called sleep apnea. A simple sleep study can be done to see if you have this problem.

As you can see there are many issues that can be the cause of erectile dysfunction. Most of these are treatable, but left untrained anyone of these can be life threatening. That is why I say that male impotency is a warning sign of something that can be severely worse going on on the body. This is why I say again, seek out help from your physician when this problem arises.

Back to the question, can erectile dysfunction be dangerous to you, the answer is yes! If you are suffering from erectile dysfunction seek out medical help, this could be an alarm your body is ringing telling you of a much worse condition that your body is suffering. Men, think like a car. If your car is not running at peak performance you are looking under the hood to see what is wrong and what is causing it to run slow. Your body is the same. You can not get a raise out of your manhood, something is wrong in the body to make your penis not stand at attention. It is time to get your body checked out and see what is going on inside.

With erectile dysfunction the good news is that it is a treatable disease. But there is usually an underlying factor of why you have this problem. Do not feel bad that you have this condition, it is best to talk to your physician and get it and the cause rectified.

Besides the physician prescribing medication for impotency, you may also try some preventive measures to cure having erectile dysfunction. By curbing and reducing the intake of alcohol, tobacco and watching your weight you may also need to reduce the stress, anxiety in your life. These are things to do to reduce the chances of coming down with erectile dysfunction. It is always best to try and prevent something naturally then to take medication after the problem has developed.
