Early Pregnancy Symptoms – What to Expect During the First Months of Pregnancy
When trying to conceive, women become very aware of subtle differences in their bodies and question if these differences are symptoms of pregnancy. Every woman's body is different and she will experience different symptoms. Here are a few symptoms you might experience during early pregnancy:
1. Implantation Bleeding:
Anywhere from 6 to 12 days after conception, an embryo will implant into the uterus. Some women experience bleeding during this time. Since this is around the time that a woman might expect her period, it is difficult to know if the boring is implantation or just the start of another cycle. Cramping is also normal with implantation.
2. Missed Period:
The most common symptom is a missed period. If you think you might be pregnant and have missed your period, you need to take a pregnancy test. If you are boring, you may still be pregnant. Some women still have their period during the first months of pregnancy. This bleeding may also be confused with implantation bleeding.
3. Swollen or Tender Breasts
With the surge of new hormones in the body, a pregnant woman's breasts often swell and become tender. If you have swollen or tender breasts during your period, it may feel the same in the beginning. As you progress through your first trimester the tenderness may increase. Itchy skin on the breasts is common also. This is the result of the skin stretching to accommodate the swelling. Some women also notice that their areolas (the darker part around the nipples) get darker during pregnancy. The small bumps around the nipple may also become more pronounced. These bumps create an oily fluid that prepares the breasts for breastfeeding.
4. Fatigue:
As your body is preparing to help a baby grow, you need more rest. If you are in the first stages of pregnancy, you may feel like you need to sleep all the time. Take this time to give your body rest and help the baby grow. Your energy will usually return during the second trimester.
5. Nausea:
Morning sickness is not, as the name reiter, restricted to the morning. It can happen at any time of the day or night. Most women only have morning fatigue during the first trimester, but it can continue into later pregnancy.
6. Food Cravings and Aversions:
We all hear about the wife that sends her husband out for ice cream and pickles at midnight. While you might not crave ice cream and pickles, you may crave other foods. This is due to increased hormones in your body. Other foods that you normally love might become your least favorite foods. Make sure to eat a balanced diet so that your baby has every opportunity to develop properly.
7. Sensitivity to Smells
During early pregnancy, you may become very sensitive to certain smells. Getting away from the source of the smell will help alleviate nausea.
8. Frequent Urination:
Early in pregnancy, your baby is not big enough to be pressing on your bladder. Frequent urination is caused by the hormones present in your body.
9. Mood Swings:
Those wonderful hormones are at work again. You may experience mood swings during pregnancy. It's not uncommon for a pregnant woman to cry for no reason at all. Get plenty of rest, eat right, and exercise to help with mood swings.
If you are experiencing many of these symptoms, you have a chance of being pregnant. You need to take a home pregnancy test or have your doctor do a blood test. Just remember that all of these symptoms can have other causes. Do not rely just on the symptoms. Good luck and baby dust to you all!
